FLWR City Dogwalkers Review

Product Name: FLWR City Blueberry Muffin Dogwalkers

Brand: FLWR City

Category: pre-rolls

Star rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Summary: a quality hand-rolled preroll perfect for any time of day

When buying cannabis, I always prefer to support local brands. One of my favorite local brands from my hometown of Rochester New York is FLWR City.

I first met FLWR City at the Rochester Public Market (one of the oldest public markets in the country and an absolute must-visit if you’re in town) when they were a hemp-focused brand, right around the time that recreational cannabis was legalized in NY. I loved their CBD flower and bought from them regularly – I even sat down with founder and owner Zach Sarkis at one point to talk about the future of FLWR City as a rec brand. Most of all, I love their commitment to regenerative agriculture, paying living wages, and making quality plant medicine affordable.

These days, FLWR City still sells CBD, but they also sell THC flower – and it’s hard for them to keep either in stock for long. During my visit home in April, I asked for FLWR City products across the state and while they’re well-stocked in New York City, outside of Rochester you can’t find them. And sometimes, you can’t find them in Rochester either!

These prerolls are some of the best on the market, and it took me nearly 5 dispensary visits to finally get my hands on a pack. When I bought these, the budtender told me they had less than 10 packs left in stock!

Blueberry Muffin Dogwalkers by FLWR City

I bought half-gram prerolls with Blueberry Muffin flower, an indica-dominant hybrid. They come in a pack of 7 for a total of 3.5 grams, or an eighth. The THC potency is considered medium at 19.45% and the COA showed they also had 1.3% CBD.

The COA also showed the terp profile:1.2% farnesene, 0.8% beta-caryophyllene, and 0.3% terpinolene. (For reference, a terpene concentration over 0.1% is biologically significant, and anything over 2% is likely artificially inflated.)

Why Dogwalkers?

I picked these pre-rolls up on my way to a bachelorette party with a few specific needs in mind.

First, I needed to be functional. I flew across the country for a few short days with one of my closest friends and our itinerary was busy. I knew we’d be up later than I usually am and have to get up every morning for activities. My body was on Pacific time operating in Eastern time and I knew my system would need assistance, but I didn’t want to get sky high. For this, I wanted a low dose of low to medium-potency THC, ideally under 20%

I also needed help dealing with travel tummy. Without getting too in detail, my system is easily upset by travel, especially in an airplane. I’ve had chronic gastrointestinal issues all my life, and combatting daily nausea and keeping… “regular” are priorities. I knew I would have a flare-up from the travel and cannabis is my top choice for managing. THC is exceptional as an antiemedic so I can keep eating, and smoking can help keep things moving, so to speak.

Finally, I wanted something that would help me keep my mood up, stay social, and be convenient. When you’re the only stoner at a party, it’s not as fun to roll up every few hours. When you’re traveling across the country, you can’t exactly fly with your entire rolling tray. Half-gram prerolls are the perfect pick-me-up and they smoke quickly.

No, why are these joints called dogwalkers?

A “dogwalker” refers to a mini joint, usually a 0.5 grams. Small joints were originally called this because they could be smoked in the time it took to walk your dog around the block. Some brands have tried to copyright the phrase and some bigger cannabis companies have “dogwalker” product lines, but the term itself refers to joint size.

What were the effects like?

These prerolls did exactly what I needed them to do. I felt alert and awake. They helped me get to baseline in the morning, function normally, and stay social. I didn’t get super lifted after smoking one, thanks to the lower THC percentage and the presence of CBD. The size was perfect for a morning smoke session and I could have a few in the evening while everyone else drank to keep the vibe.

I like a half-gram pre-roll. It’s the perfect amount for a quick solo smoke sesh. A full gram takes commitment or sharing with someone but a half-gram is just the right dose for me.

About FLWR City Prerolls

Pre-rolls can be hit or miss. They’re convenient, but some brands use pre-rolls as a place to shove their shake and lowest-tier flower and charge a pretty penny for otherwise cheap shit. Machine-packed pre-rolls are horrible to smoke. The flower is jammed in the paper so tightly even air can’t pass through and end up with major canoes. High-quality, hand-rolled prerolls are hard to come by – but these are.

The flower was a little dry and not very flavorful, but that is common for prerolls, especially when they age in inventory. A freshly rolled joint will always be more flavorful, but I don’t hold it too much against these. I didn’t taste much blueberry, but none of the three top terps have a fruity aroma, so it’s not too surprising.

Each preroll burned well. There was some minor canoeing but I never lost the cherry and I could smoke the entire thing. They also burned fairly quickly. It took me less than 5 minutes to smoke one, which is ideal for a short morning smoke break.

Would I get these again? Absolutely. I’d be more than happy to pick up another pack of these or try a different strain, especially if I’m just popping home for a few days. Shop FLWR City at select dispensaries across New York State.
