Product Name: Vivimus #Relax CBN Softgels

Category: Edible/ capsule

Star rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Summary: A softgel for sleep perfect for someone who doesn’t want to feel high

I’ve been sitting on these softgels from Vivimus for years. As a habitual smoker, isolate cannabinoid pills aren’t my first choice to help me sleep. But in the midst of my 90-day smoke break, I found myself struggling with sleep. As I pawed through my stash looking for something to help, I came across these.

In any other instance, I would be skeptical of the efficacy of the effects for an isolate. But when it’s taking over 90 minutes to fall asleep, you become willing to try new things – and these pills were easy enough to start.

About Vivimu CBN Softgels for Sleep

What I like about these softgels is the simplicity of the ingredients: 50 mg of isolated CBN suspended in MCT oil, gelatin, glycerin, and purified water. All these pills contain is the cannabinoid, a fatty carrier, and a simple casing. Vivimu states on the bottle that the CBN comes from a hemp-derived source, which makes these legal to ship across the US.

I take a CBN pill 30 – 45 minutes before bedtime, usually with a mug of tea before starting my nightly skincare and teeth cleaning routine. There’s no taste, the pills are small and easy to swallow, and generally, it’s not a big change to my routine.

So how does it work?

On the nights I remember to take these, I notice a difference in my sleep latency (the time it takes me to fall asleep) and how quickly I fall back asleep after waking up. I am not tossing and turning with an endless merry-go-round of thoughts in my head, listening to the clock chime the hours away. Instead, I am able to quiet my mind and drift off far faster than the nights I forget to take these.

Do they have a lasting effect? Perhaps, when taken for several days in a row, you may still benefit from them if you forget one night – but I cannot scientifically confirm that, except to say that all cannabinoids are fat-soluble and can build up in your body over time with regular consumption.

Overall, these pills help me sleep – and that’s exactly what I was looking for. Whether I continue to consume them once I start smoking again remains to be seen (if I don’t go through the entire bottle before then – because I may.) Overall, I give these four stars because they work, but I have some reservations about the company that sells them (see below.)

These softgels would be incredibly helpful for someone who struggles to sleep, but doesn’t want to consume THC, smoke, vape, or feel high from edibles.

My bottle looks a little different from what Vivimu sells now because of how old it is. Their new formula includes 10 mg of CBD in addition to the 50 mg of CBN, which (in theory) should help the product work better. CBN has a weak binding affinity for the CB-1 receptors, while CBD has a high binding affinity for MANY receptors in the body, and CBN is known to work better in the presence of other cannabinoids.

About CBN

CBN, or cannabinol, is a minor cannabinoid that occurs as THC degrades. While CBN levels are quite low in freshly harvested or properly cured cannabis plants, the molecule can be found in much higher quantities in old weed and AVB (already vaped bud.)

CBN has many of the same effects of THC, but in a less potent way, including: anti-inflammatory and antibiotic properties, pain-relieving qualities, and appetite enhancement.

Science Behind CBN and Sleep

CBN products have taken the cannabis market by storm as the next best thing for sleep. But the science doesn’t quite back this up. In fact, CBN alone is less sedating than THC – but it’s also less psychoactive so it won’t get you high. Research shows that CBN and THC together have a greater sedating effect than either cannabinoid alone.

However, a real-world data collection of over 380 people using a CBN product with no other cannabinoids indicated that over 80% of participants felt they slept better when using the CBN tincture. Additionally, 72% felt the tincture worked better than other sleep aids they’ve tried. Exactly how much effect CBN has on sleep is still up for debate.

So given this research, could my experience with these CBN pills be the placebo effect? Certainly – but the placebo effect is incredibly powerful and nothing to discount by itself. Taking these pills does not have a negative effect on my body, and whether it’s the pills themselves or the placebo effect, I’ll take all the help I can get to have a good night’s sleep

About Vivimu

Vivimu is an ecommerce retailer that sells hemp-derived cannabis products with a variety of cannabinoid options, including CBG, CBD, CBN, THCa, and some other more chemically-derived cannabinoids like HHC and D8 THC, which I never recommend.

While a service like this is helpful for accessing cannabis products, always do your research before trying new and novel cannabinoids, as many are unresearched and without scientific validation of benefits. In general, when ordering from a service like Vivimu, stick with cannabinoids with a large body of research: THC, THCa, CBD, CBDa, CBN, CBG, CBGa, CBC, and THCv.
