Vermont has a long history of being a cannabis-friendly state.
The medical program was legalized back in 2004, one of the first states in the nation to do so. Recreational cannabis was legalized in 2020, but the program was mainly concentrated on home grow. It wasn’t until the end of 2022 that retail locations were able to open.
Thankfully, visitors to the Green Mountain State (as well as residents without a green thumb) can now visit a variety of dispensaries throughout the state, shopping a variety of locally-grown flowers as well as edibles, beverages, concentrates, and more.

Why visit Vermont?
Weed is just one attraction of the Green Mountain State.
Vermont boasts miles of pristine mountain wilderness. Rivers run through the center of idyllic small towns and there’s a trailhead to explore around every corner. You won’t find many chains here – small, locally owned businesses are the backbone of this state and every village has a unique offering.
You’ll also find world-class restaurants tucked in mountainous hideaways, creative cideries, distilleries, breweries, and wineries.
Vermont is a must-visit state if you like hiking, biking, backpacking, camping, swimming, white-water rafting, canoeing, kayaking, paddleboarding, or just enjoying the great outdoors. The Green Mountain State prides itself on LGBT+ inclusivity as well.
