This healing salve from CBD brand Blooming Botanicals is one of the products I refer people to the MOST. When I sprained my ankle, this was one of the topicals I reached for. This also is the topical my husband requests most often after his long runs.

How do CBD topicals work?

CBD topicals work by activating the endocannabinoid receptors in your skin. Every mammal has an endocannabinoid system, which is responsible for the effects of cannabis as well as producing cannabinoid-like molecules in our body. You have ECS receptors on every organ in your body, including your skin. Since your ECS functions to keep your body balanced and healthy, activating ECS receptors on the skin can help speed along the healing processes.

Why I love the Blooming Botanicals Healing Salve

There are a few reasons this salve is one of my favs:

• The dose. This 2 oz jar of salve has 500 mg of CBD extract. 100 – 250 mg is a common range for many pain topicals, but I find the strength of this one part of why it works so well.
• The ingredients. It has a short list of easily pronounceable ingredients, which include full-spectrum hemp extract, beeswax, three kinds of oils, and herbs.
• The herbs. Blooming Botanicals uses a blend of burdock, calendula, comfrey, eucalyptus, lavender, and tangerine to work alongside the CBD. (
• The texture. It’s thick and smooth and has to be massaged into the skin.
• The scent. It doesn’t have any overpowering perfumes or odors. Some topicals I’ve tried have been very heavily scented and I don’t enjoy that. This has a subtle odor from the herbs.
