Summary: A sturdy, well-made backpack big enough to hit the road with (and it’s smell-proof!)

I’m a backpack girlie. Always have been.

Even now when I’m nearly in my 30s, I still use a backpack as my work bag. I’m more comfortable carrying a backpack than a satchel or laptop bag, and I have no problem carrying a heavy pack. Hell, one of my favorite hobbies involves wearing a heavy pack and walking up and down mountains (backpacking or rucking, depending on who you ask.) I can tell I’m getting old because a well-designed backpack is pleasing to me.

Case in point: I asked my mom for a new backpack for Christmas last year – and I’m obsessed with it. So when my friends at Headshop.com offered to send me a Revelry backpack, I was thrilled.

Who is Revelry?

I have a few other bags from Revelry, all of them designed with stoners in mind. They’re made with a durable canvas exterior, lined with rubber, and boast a carbon-filtration system to keep them from reeking like weed. They’re made to contain odors and resist water.

In my opinion, they’re some of the best smell-proof bags on the market. I love my Confidant bag for traveling with cannabis and I wear my hippack all the time.

Why I Love the Drifter Smell-Proof Backpack by Revelry

I’ll admit when I first got this backpack (which Revelry calls the “Drifter” – appropriate!) I was a little taken aback by the size. It’s a large pack; over a foot tall when fully extended and Revelry says it has a volume of 23 L. I knew it had ample carrying capacity, but in the van, I didn’t have an immediate need for it. So the bag went into storage for a few months until I could figure out what to do with it.

Then a few weeks ago, I was getting ready for MJBiz Con in Las Vegas. My flight was on Spirit which meant I got one bag. A suitcase didn’t make the cut in the van, so out came the Drifter.

I crammed this bag full of everything I needed for four days of business networking in Sin City and let me tell you – it was the perfect size. I knew this bag was big when I got it, but seeing it full of clothes, shoes, makeup, skincare, and work supplies solidified the storage space (and the importance of smart packing!) To pack it, I filled the main area with clothes and shoes, tucked my Kindle and defuser into the little side pockets, and used the outside pockets for medication and my charging cord.

This is a roll-top bag, which means you can roll down the top of it and secure it in place with two metal clips – or you can fully extend it, filling it to max capacity to use every last bit of space possible in the bag. I did both over the course of my trip. i rolled it down when on the plane (because Spirit is not generous with bag size) but when I carried it around on Friday, I had it fully extended.

I carried this bag around the airport, the strip, my hotel, and all day with me on Friday (an 8-mile day with this on my back!) It was heavy, but the bag itself was so easy to carry. The straps are wide and distribute the load well. The handle on top makes the bag easy to pick up and put on or to remove. And best of all, the Drifter has a chest strap.

Chest straps are common in the backpacking world because they make load distribution easier for your shoulders. If you have a heavy pack, you don’t want it dragging down your shoulders and hunching you forward all day. A chest strap helps bear the burden. But you don’t often see chest straps on backpacks made for daily use and I was thrilled to discover this one (after I had packed it and flown into Vegas and was making my way through the airport – but hey, better late than never, right?)

The Drifter is also a pretty bag (remember what I said about getting older?) It’s designed for use and aesthetics, and it has leather accents and metal hardware. The zippers are metal, the clasps are metal, and there’s a few metal rings strategically placed on the front so you can easily clip things to the bag, or lock the zippers shut. It also comes in a variety of colors and designers

This bag survived Sin City and I was glad to have it. It barely fit into the Spirit carry-on box, but I didn’t have any problems carrying it on my flights.
