Jerry’s Picks Edible Review

Product Name: Jerry’s Picks

Brand: Garcia Hand Picked

Category: Edible

Star rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Summary: An edible worthy of the stoner music iconic

I can’t start a review involving Jerry Garcia without first admitting something: I’m not a fan of the Grateful Dead.

I know, I know! It’s a stoner sin, and I’m sorry. But my dad is a massive fan of the Dead and I count that as close enough – liking them by association.

I didn’t even pick out these! There’s a long story here involving van repairs and a loaner car, but the short version is: I sent my husband into an Oregon dispensary with instructions to find affordable edibles and he returned with these: Jerry’s Picks.
The name is twofold: these gummies are shaped like guitar picks (“modeled after Jerry’s guitar picks” says the website.) and were the man, the myth, and the legend himself still alive, he would, presumably, pick these products.

Jerry’s Picks Edible Review

The first thing I noticed about these edibles was the container. No excess packaging, no layers of plastic to sort through – a simple plastic container wrapped in a sticker/ label. And the sticker is totally on point – a psychedelic yet carefree design of red, blue, and green. It is simple but gorgeous and goes a long way to set the tone for these edibles (and the rest of Garcia Hand Picked’s products.)

Flavor

The edibles themselves are 10 mg each (9.91 mg according to my package) and come in blueberry, raspberry, and blackberry flavors, differentiated by their colors.

They have a relatively short list of ingredients, which I like: organic fruit flavorings, colors from natural sources (spirulina, radish, and blackberry currant juice) as well as two non-cannabis terpenes: linalool and liminene. The flavor is good and has only a little of that classic metallic extraction tang at the end.

The package notes that the cannabis extract in these is a hybrid blend, which doesn’t mean too much because most strains these days are hybrid.

Texture

The texture is smooth: I always prefer gelatin gummies over pectin because pectin can get gritty, but that means these are not vegan.

I also liked that these gummies were fresh, made and tested in May of 2024 (I bought them in August.) Sometimes edibles can sit on the shelf for months, but these were barely 3 months old.

Effects

The first time I tried these, I played “Race the Edible” with 10 mg while working. Once I finished my work (and won the race!) I took another gummy, and then another about five hours later, for a total of 3 gummies. The result was a gentle but persistent head high that came on slowly and hung around for hours. I was present but uninterested in talking or focusing, so it would have been well-suited for Netflix and Chill. And these gummies deliver the chill. The head high comes on first but it’s followed by a gentle body high that makes you feel like all your nerves are standing on end. The sensation of touch is heightened and these gummies would be perfect for date night…if you catch my drift.

The second time I tried these I took 20 mg at once and had a much more intense experience. The high hit me all at once. It was still very much in my head but this time it felt concentrated to the front of my head, like a headband effect. it came on so strongly it was a little overwhelming – but luckily I’ve been taking edibles for long enough to know how to breathe through it. The body high set in after the head high was in full force and had a similar effect on my nerves. In retrospect, I could have taken one and a half gummies and been properly dosed.
