Summary: One of my favorite wake-and-bake strains from a medical provider turned recreational in New Mexico

I love a wake-and-bake strain. There’s something so special about starting your day with the rising sun, smoking good weed.
For me, a great wake-and-bake strain is below 20% THC and delivers a mostly mental high that helps me focus and get tasks started – something that can be challenging to do with a neurodivergent brain. I didn’t have many expectations when I picked up an eighth of Cereal Milk on a trip to Santa Fe – I just drove to my nearest dispensary to grab something new. Fortunately, this strain knocked it out of the park.
Cereal Milk Strain Review
Cereal Milk is a slightly sativa-leaning hybrid cannabis strain bred from Y Life and Snowman. It has a balanced lineage that delivers a fairly balanced experience. Consumer feedback on Leafly has the Cereal Milk strain as more sedating, but that was not my experience.
This specific flower came in at 16.2% THC and 0.15% CBD – not quite high enough to make it a type II chemovar, but on the low potency side of type I.
Bud Appearance
These nugs were beautiful! They had an amazing array of colors: the flowers were both light green and dark purple, with vibrant orange hairs throughout. The nugs were small but dense and coated with trichomes, standard for indoor-grown weed.
They were a little on the dry side, but I think that’s more due to the climate of northern New Mexico than the curing process. They were not noticeably dry when I first purchased them but quickly dried out as I opened and closed the bag. I could have switched these buds over to a glass container with a Boveda pack, but instead, I left them in the plastic bag they came in, which contributed to the dryness.
Aroma
The aroma was strong and vibrant. It was heavily earthy and dank, with a hint of citrus at the end. It was a rich and complex scent that was classically weedy. I loved it.
I did not scan the COA on this, so I don’t know what the tested terpene profile is.
Experience
This version of Cereal Milk was everything I want in a wake-and-bake strain. It was mentally uplifting, but gently so. Sometimes sativas can get overpowering and take my brain from focused to scattered, but that was not the case here.
The mid-level THC potency was ideal to pack a bowl or roll a joint, toke, and move on with my day. It made me want to roll out my yoga mat, sit in meditation, and knock out tasks on my to-do list. I didn’t get stuck in “being high” and I didn’t have to worry about overdoing it with the dose.
The high was centered in my mind, with a slight body buzz that often accompanies sativas. I wasn’t incredibly euphoric, but gently elevated. Overall, this strain was mentally stimulating without being over-powering, an ideal combination.
