Summary: A simple and refreshing hemp oil face spray I’ve come to love

Let’s talk about skincare.
Every woman has a skincare routine and every woman has her reasons. Mine are simple: age gracefully without destroying my skin barrier.
In my early 20s, I had a moderate skincare routine, around 5 steps at night and 3 in the morning. But as I got older and learned more about my body, I came to realize that so much of the skincare that’s marketed to women is intense. Intense to the point where it can actually destroy the skin barrier you’re trying to protect. It creates a vicious cycle where you become reliant on these products because your skin cannot maintain itself.
Once I stopped wearing foundation and then makeup, my skincare routine simplified. It takes a lot to get me to add a product to my skincare routine because I am generally suspicious of the long-term impact.
When I moved to New Mexico, I had to adjust to the arid climate. I’m from the northeast where water is plentiful – in the ground and in the air. But New Mexico is a high desert state and it is dry here – seriously dry. Thankfully, I didn’t notice a major change in my skin, but I knew I needed to incorporate more moisture to keep it that way.
Enter, HIGHNMIGHTY Spritz Yo Face.
About HIGHNMIGHTY Spritz Yo Face Chamomile Face Spray
I received this face spray months ago when Lisa generously sent me a HIGHNMIGHTY package. I tried it out and loved the smell, but at the time didn’t see a big need for a face spray.
Thank goodness I kept it because I need it now!
The ingredients, like everything HIGHNMIGHTY makes, are blessedly simple: purified water, witch hazel, jasmine, hibiscus, chamomile, and hemp oil.
It’s the witch hazel that makes me like the smell of this so much. The notes of jasmine, chamomile, and hibiscus are soft and simple, with earthy yet sharp witch hazel leading the way. The hemp oil has no aroma and if you didn’t read the ingredients, you’d never know it was there.
Like everything HIGHNMIGHTY makes, this face spray is made by hand in small batches. Some separation is natural due to the nature of oil and water (and Lisa’s refusal to add preservatives or mixing agents) so the spray needs to be shaken before use.
The directions say this spray is to refresh and tone, to set cosmetics, or throughout the day. The use of witch hazel can be drying, so I use this spray once a day, either at bedtime after I wash my face, or on the rare occasion where I wear a little makeup to keep it in place.
Aroma is the biggest part of any topical product for me. I can be picky about scents and I hate products that are perfumey – Spritz Yo Face Spray is a gentle, natural aroma that I adore. It helps keep my skin hydrated and toned. Witch hazel has astringent qualities, which means to shrink or constrict tissue. Astringents are good to use in small quantities on your skin because everyone knows, saggy skin makes you look older.
Hemp Oil in Skincare
Cannabis and hemp plants have incredible potential in a variety of applications, including skincare. Hemp oil is moisturizing but is thought to bring balance to oily skin, hydrating without exacerbating oil production. Extracted hemp is naturally noncomedogenic, which means it doesn’t clog pores.
Hemp oil is known for its antioxidant properties, which can help prevent aging via fine lines and wrinkles. Thanks to your endocannabinoid system, hemp oil is generally safe for most people to use without adverse reactions.
