Product Name: Pineapple Thai Strain Review
Brand: HiFi
Category: Flower
Star rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Summary: an energizing sativa-led strain available in all 50 states

I love sativa strains. I love a wake and bake strain, one that perks your brain up like a cup of coffee and removes the creative dam. With a good sativa strain, the ideas come effortlessly, and that elusive flow state is reachable.
In today’s marketplace, most strains are hybrids – meaning their lineage contains both sativa and indica strains. This means that usually, sativa and indica aren’t helpful labels, as hybrids can have a range of effects. But the lineage of Pineapple Thai is not long and interbred- it’s based on a sativa landrace strain from (where else?) Thailand and the results are classic satvia: energizing, invigorating, and perfect to wake your brain up.
This strain was sent to me for review from my friends at HiFi.
About Pineapple Thai Strain
Like most strain origins, this one is a little convoluted. Leafly tells me that this strain is notable for its high CBD percentages – and perhaps it is, but I did not get a COA with this strain and cannot confirm if this is true for what I smoked. What can I confirm is how balanced the effects were – but I’m getting ahead of myself here.
Other sources tell me that this strain was a landrace sativa strain from Thailand that has not been much changed. The closer a strain is to its landrace origins, the more consistent the effects are. While your endocannabinoid system is unique and different from mine, I would expect the results to be similar – provided you like sativa strains. If energizing strains give you anxiety, this isn’t for you.
Pineapple Thai is known for its fruit scent and intense potency, making appropriate dosage incredibly important for a productive wake and bake strain. Personally, I’ve been enjoying this strain in my Weedgets Maze-X Pipe, with perhaps 0.5 grams.
Bud Appearance
The buds were puffy and a little crunchy by the time I got them. The color was stunning: light green nugs with tiny pops of rust orange hairs and darker notes of green in the undertone. The dryness was likely due to the changes in atmosphere during storage and transport, but I can’t say for certain.
Aroma & Flavor
Pineapple Thai is famous for its intensely fruity scent, and this bud did smell faintly like tropical fruit and earth, particularly pineapple. However, I can’t say that this aroma was strong.
It’s the same with the flavor – there wasn’t much there. The bud itself seemed a little dry, perhaps from the time in storage or transport, and it wasn’t the most flavorful or aromatic bud I’ve ever smoked.
Experience
Despite the lack of a strong aroma, this bud makes for a resinous smoke. In just two smoke sessions, my Weedgets filters were so thick with resin that I had to clean them. It has a harsh draw if you take a large hit, but in small tokes, it was smooth.
The high was my favorite part of this bud. Pineapple Thai is a strain known for its energizing effects, and I found it to be quite the morning strain. It was a heady high experience, very energetic, very focused, and very creative. I found that I wanted to do something after I smoked this – I didn’t want to rot on the couch; I wanted to paint on my paint-by-number, or do yoga. I wanted to meditate or take the dog for a walk, or spend two hours writing on my latest creative project. I wanted to bake sweet treats and tidy the kitchen counter. I wanted to move, and I wanted to be productive.
However, it is dose-dependent for optimal working conditions. Too big of a dose, and Pineapple Thai delivered an intense, almost manic experience where I couldn’t collect my thoughts, and the sky seemed to swirl over me. I have to mind the size of my bowl pack with Pineapple Thai, but when I get it right, I hit that elusive creative sweet spot.
What’s the Difference Between THCa Flower and Weed?
Biologically, there is no difference between THCa hemp flower and marijuana or weed. The only difference is a legal distinction.
The 2018 Hemp Bill drew a legal line in the sand – THC was federally illegal, and hemp was defined as cannabis flower with less than 0.3% THC by dry weight. Because the bill called out THC specifically, brands have found a loophole – THCa.
Let me be clear: all cannabis plants contain THCa, whether you buy hemp online, at a gas station, or at your local dispensary. The cannabis plant does not make THC – it only makes THCa. THCa is the acidic form of THC. When you heat THCa, it converts to THC, the cannabinoid you know and love.
Weed at your dispensary is THCa flower. Weed you buy online is THCa flower. Calling it THCa flower is a legal loophole, not an indication of genetically modified cannabis.
About HiFi
HiFi, short for High Fidelity, is a Texas-based online hemp retailer. The company was founded by Chris Macek, who also founded Houston-based Barron Studios. Chris began HiFi to give people access to high-quality cannabis as a creative enhancer. You can read my interview with him here.
HiFi ships high-quality hemp flower to consumers across the US – and they can ship to you too! Each order comes with a legal disclaimer that the package contains federally legal hemp products, so the postman can’t snatch your stash. The hemp bags themselves are works of art as well, displaying trippy images.
