Smoking cannabis out of a bowl is as old-school stoner as it gets. Whether you’re carving a bowl into an aluminum can or using a blown glass pipe, dry bowl smoking is cheap, simple, and easy. You can find dry bowls at any given headshop or dispensary, and sometimes even a gas station.
But let’s be honest – smoking out of a dry bowl isn’t always the best. It hits hard, harsh, and is liable to leave you coughing. But bowls are small, discreet, and travel well, and you’ll never hear me say you shouldn’t smoke out of a dry bowl – but maybe you should upgrade your bowl from that one you bought at Joint Headshop a decade ago.

The Maze-X is a massive upgrade in dry herb smoking. You know I love a good bowl – it’s perfect when you don’t want to roll a joint, or don’t have access to a water pipe. But there’s no denying that sometimes, they just hit too harshly.
The Weedgets Maze-X is designed to avoid this. Rather than one solid piece of glass (or metal, or composite, or whatever), this pipe is made from three separate pieces; the silicone body with a “maze” design, an aluminum cover to protect your fingers, and a silicone mouthpiece with an additional filter.
The maze design of the body gives the smoke more surface area to filter through before it reaches you, so it cools down (slightly). The mouthpiece has an additional filter to keep more of the resin and carcinogens in the pipe and out of your lungs. The bowl has several holes in the bottom rather than just one, which also contributes to cooling the smoke (somehow)
But my favorite part of this piece is the bowl cover. It’s not often you come across a truly travel-friendly bowl, that can keep the good stuff (or the ash) contained. I just love the ingenuity of having a bowl cover.
How to Clean the Maze X Pipe
The box this pipe comes in also serves two purposes: it functions for storage and transport of the pipe, keeping the smell of your flower even more contained and it works for cleaning. Unlike traditional dry herb bowls, the Maze X Pipe comes apart in three pieces for easy storage and cleaning.
You can take the pipe apart, put it in the box it came in, and pour your isopropyl alcohol (or other cleaning solution) directly on top. Add some flaky sea salt, close the lid, and give it a good shake. Let the isopropyl sit for at least a half hour and shake again, or follow the instructions on your cleaning solution for best results.
Final Thoughts on Maze X Pipe by Weedgets
I’ve had this pipe for a few years now and every time I clean it, I use the box it came in. After three years, all of the pipe pieces and the box are holding up quite well. It does require more cleaning than your standard dry bowl to hit well, but cleaning your pieces regularly is an important part of stoner health, so I don’t mind that.
This is my favorite pipe to travel with because of how well it packs down and contains the smell of fresh flower and ash after smoking. I can pop it in my backpack or purse for a later toke and no one is the wiser.
Is it pricey for a dry herb bowl? Yes, absolutely. But this is durable and well-designed, the perfect “treat yourself” for a flower lover who wants to upgrade the dry bowl experience.
