I couldn’t have asked for a more magical wedding day. From the gorgeous venue that handled every detail to sunny, mild summer weather in August, everything aligned beautifully. One of the most important ways I was able to relax and be present on my wedding day was with cannabis. You can read about my timeline of cannabis consumption on my wedding day. But smoking on your wedding day isn’t for everyone.
If you want to enjoy cannabis on your big day while maintaining the elegance of the day (not smelling like smoke as you walk down the aisle), here are five suggestions for a refined, classy cannabis experience.
5 Classy Ways to Enjoy Cannabis on Your Wedding Day (Without Smelling Like Smoke)

1. Start with Cannabis-Infused Bath Products
What better way to start your big day than with a relaxing bath? Most cannabis bath bomb products only contain CBD, although some do contain THC as well, depending on the regulations and product offerings in your state. The CBD in cannabis bath bombs is absorbed into your skin, activating the many endocannabinoid receptors there to help you relax without feeling high or untethered. These bath bombs also smell amazing, giving you a gorgeous and subtle fragrance to start your day. You may even be able to find bridal-specific cannabis bath products designed for brides!
If you don’t have a bath tub (as I don’t) you can still incorporate cannabis into your morning shower: use a small mesh satchel containing CBD bath salts or soak to infuse your shower aromatically with CBD.
2. Enjoy Discreet Edibles with Your Bridal Party
My bridal party came ready to party with CBD and THC edibles to enjoy while we were getting ready. Edibles are a delicious way to consume cannabis, but take care on your wedding day: the delayed onset of these means if you don’t time it well, they could kick in while you walk down the aisle. Edibles come in all forms: I enjoyed a gummy, but you may prefer a little chocolate treat or a breath-freshening mint.
I consumed CBD-only edibles to help me relax and get a little food in my stomach before the whirlwind started. If you’re consuming THC edibles, I highly recommend a small dose: 1 – 2.5 mg is perfect, 5 mg only if you know your system reacts well to it. And it may go without saying, but please do not try out a new edible on your wedding day! Stick with products you already know and love. If you enjoy larger edible doses, I recommend waiting to consume until after the ceremony is over.
3. Consider Cannabis-Infused Beverages
Cannabis beverages are the ultimate form of discreet consumption, allowing you to sip and savor alongside people with alcohol while elevating your system. There are a few ways to include cannabis beverages in your wedding day:
- Ask someone in your bridal party to purchase THC or CBD beverages before your big day and bring them to the venue for the wedding party to enjoy
- Ask your bartender to use a THC or CBD-infused beverage enhancer in certain drinks (the legality of this may vary – know your state’s laws and venue’s rules.) This idea allows you to transform your mocktail menu, offering elevated mocktails that help people feel joyful without the chaos that comes with alcohol. If you go with this option, make sure your infused options are obvious and well-labeled so no one accidentally consumes.
- Carry your own beverage enhancer. Many brands make a flavorless beverage enhancer that you can use to turn any drink into an edible without changing the flavor, allowing you to dose as precisely as needed.
4. Try Sublingual Tinctures for Precise Control
Tinctures are an underrated form of cannabis consumption, allowing you precise control over your dosage in a discreet way. Tinctures are completely aroma-free and can easily be taken sublingually or mixed into a drink.
These products work best when taken regularly, so don’t start taking a tincture on your wedding day. Instead, if you’re looking to feel relaxed, calm, and present, I would advise starting a CBD or CBD/CBG tincture about two – four weeks before your big day for best results. This time will allow you to understand how your tincture affects you and the right dosage to achieve desired results.
5. Incorporate Cannabis into Your Honeymoon Suite
While the wedding day itself might call for discretion, don’t forget about incorporating cannabis into your wedding night! There are so many fun ways to include cannabis in your honeymoon suite: CBD massage oils, indulgent edibles, mood-setting candles, and even weed lube or elixar if you’re not too exhausted after the big day. And if you enjoy traditional cannabis consumption as I do, a bouquet of cannabis flower is cute and functional.
6. Bonus: Post-Ceremony Joint
Okay, this may leave you smelling a little like smoke! But after the ceremony is done, a little smoke is a great way to relax and unwind into your reception. I personally waited until after the ceremony, first dances, and dinner were done, but when you smoke is up to you. I recommend rolling yourself a little joint to look forward to, or outsourcing that task to a cannabis-friendly member of your bridal party. Even a 5-pack of half-gram joints can get the job done if no one wants to roll. Once dinner was done and the dancing started, I popped out to the patio area where cigars were being distributed to enjoy a few tokes on a joint and lean into the pleasure of most of the wedding being done (brides, you know what I mean!)
Cannabis on Your Wedding Day
However you decide to consume cannabis on your wedding day, intentionality and careful dosing are your keys to success. I relied heavily on CBD to keep me calm and present throughout the day, and it worked beautifully – I remember every detail of my wedding day. Once most of the pressure (and public speaking) had passed, I turned to THC to let loose and have fun on the dance floor.
Your wedding day is about you – and if cannabis is an important part of your life, there’s no reason it shouldn’t have a place on your wedding day as well. There are beautiful, sophisticated ways to include weed in your wedding day without compromising on class. By focusing on smoke-free methods, you can enjoy the benefits of cannabis while still smelling wonderful as you walk down the aisle. Whatever approach you choose, remember that moderation is the essence of elegance—especially on your wedding day. These subtle cannabis touches enhanced, rather than defined, my celebration, creating memories I’ll cherish forever.
